Special Weeks

In 2011, we have two special Weeks, at which Causeway Prospects will provide special Celebrations for adults with learning disabilities.

Celebrations for adults with learning difficulties in 2011

  • Causeway Prospects Week: Skegness Week 2 (Thursday 14 - Tuesday 19 April 2011)
  • Causeway Prospects Week: Minehead Week 1 (Saturday 9 - Thursday 14 April 2011)

For various reasons, the Spring Harvest programme is inaccessible for some people. That's why, in conjunction with Causeway Prospects, we run some special celebrations, to open up the teaching to those who may otherwise feel marginalised.

The aim is to deliver the day’s teaching through uncomplicated words, sensitive worship and gentle explanation. Each morning divides into short segments to help guests absorb and enjoy the sessions.

Bible teaching and application that's inclusive

Pete Winmill of Causeway Prospects

Lots of energy goes into delivering both Biblical teaching and examples of life application in
simple language, using repetition and through easy-to-understand worship songs. It’s humbling to see participants worship wholeheartedly using dance, flags and signing and also to see the love and inclusivity they express towards each other.

“In the past, a number of people have stumbled on this Celebration by accident, joined in and ended up starting a group at their own church,” says Pete Winmill from Causeway Prospects, “that’s how I got involved in my own church.”

Pete had has worked with adults who have learning difficulties for 8 years. “I’ve learned so much about God’s love through their unconditional love and forgiveness. Mine is the most wonderful job in the world".
