Special Needs
What does Special Needs cover?
Special needs includes anything which may mean that your child or young person requires a little extra care and attention. This may include:
Physical or sensory needs
- Communication difficulties
- Behavioural issues
- Learning difficulties
- Medical conditions
- Circumstances which mean your child may need extra support, for example an allergy or if they do not speak English or have recently experienced bereavement.

Tell us about any special needs
If you are a parent or carer of a child with extra care needs we will have a simple to use form on this web page in September for you to let us know about your child's situation.
We do our best to accommodate each child and young person's needs within the programme but this is dependent on the skills of our team and the resources available to us at the event, so we cannot guarantee to meet your child's needs.
Provision for special needs within our programme
Spring Harvest welcomes all children and young people into the programmes, and seeks to be an inclusive and safe place for all. We provide extensive resources in terms of planning, finance, dedicated team members and on-site provision, but our resources are finite and the availability of team members with the huge variety of skills required is also a limiting factor.
If your child needs one-to-one care either you, a
family member or a trusted friend may attend the programme to
offer any support they may need as we are unable to provide one-to-one care for individual children. Each carer should read and
agree to our Carers Guidelines.
Where extra care is needed, but not on a one-to-one basis, you might be asked to stay with your child until the team is confident that they have settled into the programme, or until the leaders are satisfied that we can provide adequate care.

Please download our guide to special needs provision at Spring Harvest. It includes the Carers Guidelines that we ask all parents and carers to follow if they will be supporting a child or young person in their programme.
